The National Assessment
The National Assessment, which was developed by iSoccer, is a test that measures an individual player's overall technical ability. The assessment covers 7 topic areas and consists of 16 exercises selected to measure the fundamental skills needed to become a complete player. The test is easy enough for a five-year old, yet challenging enough for an elite player.

Assessment Background
Before a single player was tested, iSoccer established a set of criteria for the assessment to build around. This set of criteria would guide our decisions throughout the creation process.
| 1. | The Assessment must be an effective teaching tool and provide useful information. If players and coaches are going to take the time to perform the assessment, we needed to make sure the information they collect is useful. |
| 2. | The Assessment must be easily duplicated by anyone, anywhere. We wanted to develop an assessment that had limited to no barriers of entry. That is why the assessment requires minimal equipment and minimal space. |
| 3. | The Assessment must force players to be faster and more accurate to achieve a higher score. The iSoccer assessment is the same for all ages and any player can advance to the next level by performing the skill with more speed, precision and accuracy. |
Research and Testing
The complete process took iSoccer just over 12 months to test hundreds of players of all ages and skill levels and hundreds of assessment variations. The key variables that were tested and adjusted include:
| Which skills? |
| How many skills? |
| In what space? |
| For how long? |
| Which counting method? |
